Social Internship Program to overcome Malnutrition among students of Directorate of Education , DOE Delhi

Directorate of Education, GNCTD had organized an event “Social Internship Program to overcome Malnutrition among students of DoE” on Wednesday, 03 rd May 2023, (11:00 AM) at Thyagaraj Sport Complex Auditorium. Worthy Director (Education) shared the road map to overcome the malnutrition among students of Delhi Government schools.

The event was attended by School heads, teachers, student volunteers. Sh. Devender kumar, founder & CEO of ‘Ladli foundation’ was also among several dignitaries from the department.He appreciated the initiative and assured support for the cause!

Worthy DE Sh. Himanshu Gupta shared his vision to initiate the project, ‘Social Internship Program’ to overcome Malnutrition in the students and solicit all the stakeholders to work in collaboration to achieve the aim of overcoming malnutrition among students of Directorate of Education , DOE Delhi.

Department has collaborated and signed a MoU with Ladli Foundation Trust that will help it with various interventions like mid -snack breaks , maintenance of health records and parent counselling. The NGO will halp the schools implement the intervention by providing over 100 interns.

In Decenber 2022 , DoE announced that it had conducted a study on the height , weight and body mass index of students. A total of 4,08,033 students were identified in the red zone as suspected cases of malnourishment.

Schools were asked to modify the time-table to include 10 minutes of break within 2.5 hrs before the lunch break. There could be a weekly planner of health snacks indicating three choices per day. Interventions such as parental counselling sessions , mini -snack break , maintaining record of low height and weight of students and introduction of high nutrition valuves in mid day deal are being facilitated in all government schools of DoE.
